District XVII Contest
District Contest is an Ohio Music Educators Association adjudicated event that provides an opportunity for students to test their performance skills. The performing choir travels to a host school and performs a set of three memorized pieces at equal difficulty levels to a panel of three judges who will critique the performance, provide feedback and a score rating their overall performance. The performing group will also be evaluated on their ability to sight-sing a musical selection that they have never seen before, with only 4 minutes of study beforehand. After completing both performance events, scores from both events will be combined for a total composite rating on a (best) I-II-III-IV-V (worst) scale. Groups that score a "Superior" (I) will be eligible to participate in the OMEA State Contest. More information can be found by clicking here.
